%X This work is dedicated to performing an interpretation of high spatial resolution images to identify communities in danger of evictions and is part of the research project entitled Observatório de Remoções. The study area is located in São Bernardo do Campo - SP and presents a significant and very diverse number of precarious settlements in relation to the rest of the municipality. We chose to work with the category of precarious settlements because they represent well the characteristics that translate the socio-environmental vulnerability of areas normally impacted by evictions. An interpretation key based on the elements of images was developed by color, context, texture, shape and size. The interpretation keys that were obtained in this work characterize the precarious settlements of São Bernardo do Campo in an authentic and safe way and we expected that they facilitate the process of classification of images via GEOBIA.
